The Koch Brothers, The John Birch Society,
and The Government Shutdown

Charles and David Koch, the Koch brothers are trying to distance themselves from the government shutdown and debt ceiling crisis, but one need only follow the money to discover their involvement. Here is an article that connects the dots between the Koch brothers, Ron and Rand Paul, and the John Birch Society. The Koch brothers have funneled more than $250 million through just one of their front groups, Freedom Partners to fund Teabaggers during the last national election. They also fund and control (with unknown vast amounts of money) various front groups and organizations, to mask their involvement. Here are but a few: The Tea Party, The Heritage Foundation, Heritage Action (responsible for funding right wing primary candidates to 'take out' moderate Republicans, who aren't rabid enough - sound familiar?), Americans for Prosperity, Freedomworks, some colleges and institutes of higher learning where, through donations, they set the curricula and influence the hiring of teachers and professors, George Mason University and Florida State University being the most prominent examples, more think tanks like the American Enterprise Institute and The Cato Institute where their phony ideas are supposed to gain intellectual credibility, various PACs and super PACs with the word 'Freedom' in their titles which, BTW, means freedom for them to conduct their dirty, air and water poisoning fossil fuel businesses without any government regulation or taxes, not freedom for you and me.
In the article the goals of the John Birch Society are spelled out, and they closely resemble all the phony Tea Party demands and talking points. Remember when Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) found all those Communists on the Harvard faculty? Ring any bells? Notice the similarities between the Birchers' philosophy and the Tea Party's:
The JBS was fervently anti-Communist and actively involved in activities designed to uncover and root out Communist infiltration and conspiracies within the United States and our Government. The goal was that the United States have a greatly diminished Federal Government out of the business of social programs, regulation, public works, and education, and where men were free to conduct their business without Government intervention and with zero taxation of the rich. Tax exempt religious organizations was the preferred vehicle to ensure that the ultra wealthy would pay no taxes on business operations. Regular people would be poor, uneducated, and powerless, unable to join labor unions as they would not be allowed. Source Bold text by author.
The Kochs and the Pauls contend that they are not John Birchers, but their actions always speak louder than their lies. Don't be fooled because deceit is their agenda (they campaign on populist issues, but once in power their only goal is to dismantle OUR government with tactics like blackmail, extortion and lies) on their road to power and the overthrow of our government. In most countries what they are doing would not be allowed because it is treason, but they have been building their political organization for over fifty years, and money is no object. So, they are firmly entrenched. If the Teabaggers were not in government, we would not be jumping from crisis to crisis as a viable means of governance. We would not be denying the science of global warming. We would not be (Note: the link is a pdf file) deregulating and attempting to destroy government agencies like the EPA, FEMA, CFPB, and the Department of Education.
Despite the President, Democrats, and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew telling Republicans they will not negotiate over the Republican rejection of their constitutional mandate to pay bills they put on the nations credit card, they proceeded to lay out a list of demands likely written by the Koch brothers and Wall Street CEOs. In fact, to pay the ransom, President Obama will allow the Republicans to either drastically cut or effectively eliminate federal agencies their campaign donors oppose such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). They also intend on raiding federal employee pensions and making truly Draconian cuts to healthcare and social services for the working poor. Of course, no Republican ransom demand would be complete without an order to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, tax cuts for corporations and the rich, and putting an end to the Affordable Care Act. We would not be destroying the social safety net. We would not be attacking every minority that is not the white, racist Tea Party. We would not be shutting down the government and threatening to breach the debt ceiling over an already settled law (or whatever phony excuse that they come up with). Guaranteed! As responsible citizens and voters, we, the people need to put a stop to this concerted effort to corrupt our democracy...

should be held criminally liable for sedition under the criminal statute of sedition or sedition as it is described in the Patriot Act if the debt ceiling is breached because, like the terrorist, bin Laden, whose goal was to cripple the United States economy, breaching the debt ceiling is an economic attack on the United States of America that will cripple our economy for years or decades. When the full faith and credit of the United States is attacked it is a terrorist attack.
Sedition: "Following the September 11th Attacks of 2001, the federal government feared that terrorist networks were very real threats, and that if left unchecked, would lead to further insurrection. As a result, Congress enacted the Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act (USA PATRIOT) Act of 2001, Pub. L. No. 107-56, 115 Stat. 272. Among other things, the act increases the president's authority to seize the property of individuals and organizations that the president determines have planned, authorized, aided, or engaged in hostilities or attacks against the United States." It is the job and duty of Congress to finance the government of the United States, and the Republicans in Congress, who are advocating for the government shutdown and breach of the debt ceiling are performing unconstitutional acts as defined by their job descriptions, an impeachable offense* thereby breaching their oaths of office to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, particularly as it applies to Section 4 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution which states:
"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."
* Unfortunately, all impeachment proceedings must originate in the U.S. House of Representatives, but these turkeys control the House, and they will not impeach themselves even though they are guilty of impeachable offenses...
